Down goes the No. 2 Michigan Wolverines, as the unranked Wisconsin Badgers pulled off a stunning 91-88 win at Crisler Center in Ann Arbor on Saturday.
Wisconsin basketball defeated its highest-ranked opponent in the regular season since 2019, coincidentally against Michigan at home. And for the first time since 2016, the Badgers defeated a No. 2-ranked team in enemy territory.
Of course, everyone is hyped by Greg Gard’s team’s victory in Ann Arbor, including none other than Wisconsin football’s new quarterback Colton Joseph.
“Why not Wisconsin?” Joseph shared in a post on X, where he reshared a graphic about Wisconsin basketball’s upset victory. Joseph also added a couple of badger emojis, further showing that he’s been settling in nicely with the program after transferring from the Old Dominion Monarchs football program.
Wisconsin Badgers pull off comeback stunner against Michigan
Wisconsin trailed the Wolverines by as many as 14 points, but the Badgers leaned on a torrid perimeter shooting to escape Ann Arbor with their biggest win yet in the 2025-26 college basketball season.
The Badgers connected on 15 of their 33 attempts from behind the arc and shot 50 percent from the field overall.
John Blackwell led the way for Wisconsin with 26 points on 9/16 shooting from the floor with four 3-pointers. Nick Boyd contributed 22 points on 8/16 shooting, while Aleksas Bieliauskas came through with 17 points and five made triples for Wisconsin, which improved to 11-5 overall and 3-2 in Big Ten play.
Now on a two-game winning streak, Wisconsin basketball will look to pick up another victory on Tuesday against the Minnesota Golden Gophers at Williams Arena in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
