Former Wisconsin Badgers running back Braelon Allen is the second running back on the New York Jets depth chart. He was a fourth-round selection in the 2024 NFL Draft. Breece Hall is the starting running back for the Jets.
On Sunday, Aaron Rodgers threw a 12-yard touchdown pass to Allen in the second quarter and it was his first career touchdown in the NFL. The New York Jets won the game over the Tennessee Titans 24-17. New York improved to 1-1 on the season and Tennessee dropped to 0-2 on the year.
Former Wisconsin Badgers Back Braelon Allen Scores Two Total Touchdowns For the New York Jets On Sunday Afternoon
Allen was more involved in the Jets offense in Week 2 than he was in Week 1 against the San Francisco 49ers. Braelon Allen also had the game-winning 20-yard touchdown run for the New York Jets in the fourth quarter. He finished the game with 33 yards rushing on seven carries and one touchdown. Allen also caught two passes for 23 yards receiving and one touchdown.
This is a good sign for the New York Jets because they don’t need to run Breece Hall into the ground. Breece Hall led the Jets in rushing with 62 yards on 14 carries and zero touchdowns. He also caught seven passes for 52 yards receiving and a touchdown.
Fans React
There is a reason why the Wisconsin Badgers miss Braelon Allen in the backfield this season. He has a chance to play a big role in the New York Jets offense this season. This is what some of the fans had to say about his performance on Sunday:
Braelon Allen is 20 years and 239 days old.
This is his 2nd TD of the game (and his NFL career).
Allen is now the youngest player to EVER score two (2) scrimmage TDs in a single game in NFL history. pic.twitter.com/nJCDoCAf6D

@BraelonAllen Really him dawg. No 🧢 🕺🏽

I sum it up as no running game. And it’s not going to get better. #Cowboys had numerous ways to address this in offseason, including signing Derrick Henry, who wanted to come here, or drafting #Badger Braelon Allen, who’s going to be a star with the Jets. But no.

It was interesting that New York Jets running back Breece Hall has such high praise for the former Wisconsin Badgers running back. This will not be the last time this season that Braelon Allen will be scoring touchdowns for them.
