The focus of the Wisconsin Badgers football program has been on the future. With the hiring of Luke Fickell, everyone has been interested in the program’s new direction. However, this current season is not over, and there is still a lot to celebrate. While the season did not go the way many wanted it to go, there were many players that performed well. The Wisconsin Badgers announced their team awards on Friday night.

Wisconsin Badgers Announce Team Awards
The Wisconsin Badgers had many players who performed well this season. Despite the subpar record, Wisconsin continued its tradition of having a stellar defense. The MVP of the teams was Nick Herbig and for good reason. He had 47 tackles with 15.5 of them being for a loss. Add in 11 sacks and Herbig had a dominant season. Defensive Player of the Year went to Keeanu Benton. He had 36 tackles with 10 of them being for a loss and 4 sacks. The last major award was Offensive Player of the Year and that went to Chimere Dike. The junior wide receiver caught 44 passes for 653 yards and 6 touchdowns. He also added another touchdown on the ground.
#Badgers football awards continued: Wayne Souza offensive impact (Braelon Allen, Joe Tippmann), Jay Seiler defensive impact (John Torchio), special teams impact (Kamo'i Latu), Tom Wiesner Award (Brady Schipper), Power Award (Travian Blaylock).
