Wisconsin will look to get back atop the Big Ten next year. At first glance, the schedule looks really good for the Badgers. An early non-conference matchup at Washington State is a great resume builder. Going on the road and beating a good Washington State team would be a great start to the season. The Big Ten schedule also seems to be favorable. The most difficult stretch comes in the middle with Iowa, Illinois, and Ohio State. The good news is that both Iowa and Ohio State are at home. They also avoid perennial powerhouse Michigan in the schedule. The biggest question is what will this team look like in 2023.
Head Coach Is Up In The Air
Who will coach the Wisconsin Badgers in 2023? After the firing of Paul Chryst, Jim Leonhard took over as the interim. He has had decent success in the past couple of games and definitely has a shot at keeping the job in 2023. Other names have been thrown out over the past month or so. Chris Peterson, the former Boise State, and Washington Huskies coach, could step back into coaching for the Badgers. Lance Leipold is having a great season at Kansas and has Wisconsin ties. Whoever gets the job will have a tough road ahead as some players have already entered the transfer portal.
Obviously, it is a long way to the 2023 season but the first look at the schedule is positive for the Wisconsin Badgers. The coaching decision looms but the Badgers always seem to find a way to be relevant in the Big Ten. The hope is that the Badgers can reload quickly and compete for a Big Ten championship next year.
