Now that the Wisconsin Badgers coaching “drama” has been decided, focus can shift to the team’s 2022 Bowl Game. It was recently reported that Jim Leonhard has agreed to stay at Wisconsin as defensive coordinator under new head coach Luke Fickell. Per Brett McMurphy of The Action Network, Wisconsin will take on Oklahoma State in the Guaranteed Rate Bowl.

It is quite the accomplishment for Leonhard and the Wisconsin Badgers to even be playing in a Bowl Game this season. After starting 2-3, Wisconsin fired head coach Paul Chryst and handed the reins over to Leonhard. Leonhard led the Badgers to a 4-3 finish, clinching a Bowl Game with their sixth victory. Unfortunately, they were unable to bring home Paul Bunyan’s Axe, losing to Minnesota for the second straight season at the end of the year.
The Guaranteed Rate Bowl
The Wisconsin Badgers have never faced the Oklahoma State Cowboys in their long history. That will change on December 27 at 9:15 CST. The game will be played in Phoenix, Arizona. This will also be the only matchup this season of a Big Ten team with a Big Twelve team.
The Wisconsin Badgers are making their 22nd-straight Bowl appearance, the third longest streak in college football. Oklahoma State is making their 17th-straight Bowl game appearance. The Cowboys have played in the Guaranteed Rate Bowl on two other occasions, winning the Bowl in 2007 and 2015.
Formerly known as the Insight Bowl, current Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers played in the game on December 26, 2003. He threw for 394 yards and two touchdowns while completing 27 of 35 passes. California defeated Virginia Tech 52-49.
