The Milwaukee Brewers hosted their fan event, “Hot Stove and Cold Brews,” on January 18th where Willy Adames, along with other Brewers players, got to interact with fans.
Willy Adames was joined by Freddy Peralta, Garret Mitchell, Aaron Ashby, Owen Miller, Sal Frelick, Craig Counsell and Matt Arnold. Fans were able to take pictures and hang out with players. However, at the event, Willy Adames was asked about contract talks with the Brewers.
Adames’ Extension Comments
“I think I said it before. I would love to stay here. I love the city, I love the fans and I love playing here,” said Adames. “We haven’t had any conversations yet, but like I said I’m always open to listen to what they have. I love it here, I wish I could stay here.”
Adames was also asked if he would be open to starting those conversations.
“I’m always open, and I’m letting my agents handle that. I’m always open to talk. I’m willing to stay here, I want to stay here,” Adames said.

What’s Stopping a Willy Adames Extension?
The Brewers are not keen on spending big money, so an extension at the shortstop position may be out of their price range. The recent shortstop contracts have been Trae Turner signing an 11-year/ 300 million dollar contract with the Phillies, Xander Bogaerts signing an 11-year/ 280 million dollar contract with the Padres, and Dansby Swanson signing a 7-year/ 177 million dollar contract with the Cubs.
The Brewers agreed to an $8.7 million deal to avoid arbitration with Adames. An extension is not out of the question mid-season, but if they were to extend him it would be next off-season. However, the fact that Adames said the Brewers have not had conversations yet is not encouraging for fans.
