The Green Bay Packers are heading into the offseason with a long list of things to do and areas of their roster to improve. First off, they will need to figure out what to do at the quarterback position. Aaron Rodgers or Jordan Love will be the quarterback next season, but only time will tell which one is actually in Green Bay.
No matter who the quarterback ends up being, the Packers need to make some major improvements to their roster. Either Rodgers or Love (assuming he continues developing the way he has) would be good enough to get the team back into the playoffs if they make the right offseason moves.
One area that the Packers do need to improve in still is at the wide receiver position. Christian Watson and Romeo Doubs are a great duo to build around, but they could use a proven veteran.
With all of that being said, let’s dive in and take a look at three wide receivers the Packers should target via a trade this offseason.
Which Wide Receivers Should The Packers Pursue Via Trade?
3. Brandin Cooks, Houston Texans
Ahead of the NFL trade deadline, the Packers were connected to Brandin Cooks. That deal did not end up coming to fruition, but the fit would have been great. Even if Rodgers moves on, Cooks would be a perfect fit for the Packers to give Love more help.
Over the years, Cooks has been one of the most underrated wideouts in the game. He played in 13 games in 2022 and put together a nice all-around season. Cooks caught 57 passes for 699 yards and three touchdowns.
Cooks isn’t the guy to come in and be a superstar, but he’s a great supporting role player. He could immediately become the veteran security blanket that Rodgers or Love needs. If the price is right, the Packers should try to make something work.

2. Tyler Boyd, Cincinnati Bengals
This is a name that has not been brought up in trade talks recently. However, Boyd could become available for the right price due to the presence of Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins. Cincinnati would have to be impressed with an offer, but a deal could be made potentially.
During the 2022 season, Boyd ended up catching 58 passes for 762 yards and five touchdowns. He is 29 years old and still has a few good years left in him. With the Packers, Boyd would likely have a much bigger role than he has had over the last couple of years with the Bengals.
Once again, he’s the kind of veteran presence that could impact the Packers’ offense in a big way. If he could be acquired for a third-round pick or possibly a second-round pick, this would be an ideal move for Green Bay to make.
1. DeAndre Hopkins, Arizona Cardinals
Finally, there is one player that the Packers should do everything they can to acquire. DeAndre Hopkins has been rumored to be on the trade block heading into the offseason. If the Cardinals are serious about trading him, the Packers need to be at the front of the line offering an aggressive deal to get him.
Hopkins would be the kind of superstar playmaker that the Packers desperately needed this season. The price would likely be steep, but that should not matter. If Rodgers ends up returning for another season, this is a deal that makes even more sense.
The 2022 season was a down year for Hopkins, as he only caught 64 passes for 717 yards and three touchdowns. However, he was only able to play in nine games.
Despite the down season, Hopkins is still more than capable of being one of the best in the NFL. If the Packers want to acquire a difference maker, this would be the way to do it.
