At the halfway point of the 2022-23 season, the Bucks have four players who are on pace to score close to 1,200 points this season. Giannis Antetokounmpo is already at 1,085 points for the year. Brook Lopez (593), Bobby Portis (589) and Jrue Holiday (575) are all on pace to reach the 1,200-mark… if they stay healthy and keep up their current scoring averages.
Four Milwaukee Bucks’ players with 1,200 points in a season
There has been only one season in Bucks’ history where four players tallied 1,200 or more points in the same season: That happened in their third season as a franchise (1970-71), the year they won the NBA Championship.
In that year, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (2,596), Oscar Robertson (1,569), Bob Dandridge (1,452) and Jon McGlocklin (1,292) each eclipsed the 1,200-point mark. Can the 2022-23 quartet match that 1970-71 group?
In today’s NBA, there is a lot of talk about teams having a “Big 3” to be competitive in the league. The Bucks’ “Big 3” over the past couple of seasons has been Giannis, Middleton and Jrue. Remember Miami’s “Big 3” when LeBron went to Miami to play with Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade?
Here’s the question: Relative to the Bucks, which Bucks’ threesome, or “Big 3,” has been the most prolific scorers in the team’s history? There are about a dozen configurations of threesomes to choose from. But first, here are a few stats to help you before you make your decision.
These are some of the greatest scoring threesomes of Bucks’ teammates
In the Milwaukee Bucks history, there have been four threesomes with teammates who each scored 1,200 points in multiple years. Leading the way is the trio of Ray Allen, Sam Cassell and Glenn Robinson. In 1999-2000, 2000-01 and 2001-02, each of these three scored 1,200+ points. That’s the most seasons with three Bucks’ players scoring 1,200+ points in the same season.
Here is a look at the Bucks’ threesomes/teammates where each player scored 1,200+ points in the same season.
