Brook Lopez is making a strong push to take over first place from Giannis Antetokounmpo in a Milwaukee Bucks’ career stat. It’s a stat where only seven-footers qualify.

With seven three-pointers in last night’s 113-98 win over Cleveland, Lopez now has 438 career three-pointers with the Bucks. That is 17 behind Giannis’ 455 career three-pointers. Currently, Giannis 455 three-pointers as a seven-footer tops the Bucks list with Brook Lopez in hot pursuit. It will also be interesting to see which of these two seven-footers will be the first Bucks’ seven-footer to reach 500 three-pointers as a Buck.

Brook and Giannis top three-pointers list by Bucks’ seven-footers

Lopez and Antetokounmpo are the only two Bucks seven-footers with 100 or more career three-pointers with the franchise. Only two other Bucks’ seven-footers have more than 10 career three-pointers: Thon Maker (85) and Brook’s brother Robin with 35.

Now playing in his 15th NBA season, Brook Lopez this season has 35 three-pointers in 14 games, tops on the team. He is on pace to have 205 three-pointers for the season. That number is significant in that Brook Lopez holds the NBA record for most three-pointers by a seven-footer in a season with 187. He set that in 2018-19. That would make him the first seven-footer in NBA history to have 200 or more three-pointers in a season.

Lopez a three-point threat the second half of his career

The seven three-pointers last night were one short of Lopez’s career game-high of eight which he had on November 11, 2018, at Denver in his first season with the Bucks. It’s interesting to note that in Lopez’s first seven NBA seasons he made only one three-pointer in 17 attempts. In his last seven-plus NBA seasons he has made 686 three-pointers in 1,987 attempts.

Compared with other NBA players, Brook Lopez sits in third place for most three-pointers by a seven-footer. He has 687 career three-pointers: 137 with the Nets, 112 with the Lakers, and his 438 with the Bucks. Future Hall of Famer Dirk Nowitzki has the most three-pointers by a seven-footer with 1,982. Channing Frye has the second spot with 1,049. Giannis is in seventh place on this list.

Here is the list of the 10 seven-footers who have the most career three-pointers in NBA history.
