The Green Bay Packers and Chicago Bears face off Sunday evening in the NFL’s longest tenured rivalry. No matter the team’s records, each matchup has the same grit and intensity. As fantasy team owners are preparing for the playoffs, stellar performances are crucial. Every game from here on out is crucial. Here are the players you should consider inserting into your lineup this week:
- Aaron Rodgers
Every Packers fan who owns a fantasy football team can see this coming. Aaron Rodgers, without a doubt, performs quite well against the ‘Monsters of the Midway’. Besides the impressive 16-5 career record vs the Bears, the statistics are what speaks the most. Rodgers has thrown for over 5,000 yards, 45 touchdowns, and just 10 interceptions. It is hard for any quarterback of Rodgers’ caliber to put up those kind of stats. Because of his unprecedented dominance over the Chicago Bears, it is hard to even question why fantasy owners would second guess starting Rodgers this week. I truly expect nothing less from Aaron Rodgers this week as owners of the ‘Bad Man’ himself will be in for a treat come Sunday night.
2. Marquez Valdes-Scantling
Early on this season, Valdes- Scantling was dropping off fantasy rosters very quickly. The easy catches that he was dropping early in his career were coming back to haunt him. But, nonetheless, the third year wide receiver from South Florida has been on a tear as of late! The last three games, Valdes-Scantling has recorded 9 receptions, 257 yards, and three touchdowns. The stats are not flashy by any means, but they are forcing fantasy owners to reconsider adding him to their rosters. Because Valdes-Scantling has been at his best the past month, something is telling me that he is not done yet. Chicago Bears defensive coordinator, Chuck Pagano, is already going to have his hands full defending Davante Adams. Additionally, Aaron Rodgers is starting to build a connection with Valdes-Scantling. Needless to say, all of those factors spell out a break-out game for Valdes-Scantling.
3. Mason Crosby
The Green Bay Packers are going to score a lot of points Sunday night. But, they are also going to give up a lot of points. This Packers defense has truly under-performed this season and unfortunately, I expect nothing to change on Sunday. This is where Mason Crosby comes in. I have no doubt that Green Bay should be able to win this game, but it will come at the end. This Chicago Bears defense is still an elite defense and one way to beat them is to have a reliable kicker. Do not be surprised if a portion of the Packers points scored Sunday come from the right leg of Crosby. The Packers will come out on top Sunday night, thanks to the assistance from Mason Crosby.
