The Wisconsin Badgers finished the college football season with a 5-7 record and failed to qualify for a bowl game this season. A lot of issues with the Badgers this season were on the offensive side of the football. Quarterback Tyler Van Dyke had his season end before October because of a torn ACL.
Braedyn Locke was the starting quarterback for the remainder of the 2024 season for the Wisconsin Badgers. The offense was sputtering under him and they decided to fire offensive coordinator Phil Longo instead of benching Locke.
Wisconsin Badgers Quarterback Braedyn Locke Enters the Transfer Portal
On Wednesday, Badgers quarterback Braedyn Locke entered the transfer portal according to Evan Flood of 247sports. This seems like a major surprise because this seemed like an afterthought after how poorly he played this season. Locke completed 55.4% of his passes for 1,936 yards, 13 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions.
Many of his passes were getting batted down at the line of scrimmage. With Locke entering the transfer portal, it is unknown at this time who will be the Wisconsin Badgers starting quarterback will be for the 2025 college football season.

There will be nasty comments but I honestly hope the change of scenery helps him, he seems like a truly good and mature dude, it just didn’t work out here.

How bad a football program is Wisconsin when even Braedyn Locke doesn’t want to play there. He obviously hates Wisconsin and Luke Fickell. Wisconsin might the worst team in the country if they even can find enough players to play. Fickell makes Don Morton look good.

Hopefully we’re getting a mobile quarterback in the portal

If they do not get anyone in the portal to replace Locke, it is possible that Mabrey Mettauer or Carter Smith could be the starting quarterback for the Badgers next season. Head coach Luke Fickell needs to find a reliable quarterback for 2025 if he does not want to start one of those two players right away.
