The 2022 MLB regular season is over. Unfortunately the Milwaukee Brewers were unable to make the post season. However, over the course of a 162 game season a lot of incredible plays happened. Here we will watch 10 highlight reel plays!
10) Jace Peterson has an incredible catch over the tarp in foul territory
Jace Peterson provided several highlight reel plays at third base in 2022, however this catch had a very low probability of being caught. He covered a ton of ground in foul territory and had to deal with the tarp.
9) Andrew McCutchen walk off single against the Padres
McCutchen’s single to win the game and cap off a ninth inning rally also snapped an 0-32 streak at the plate. It was a big moment for the veteran and it helped give the Brewers a walk off win. Also featured in this video is a game tying triple off the wall from Jace Peterson.
8) Rowdy Tellez eight RBI day
Although this isn’t one particular play, Tellez tied a franchise record with eight RBI’s in one game. During the game he had two home runs, one of which was a grand slam. He also just missed a second grand slam as well.
7) Tyrone Taylor home run robbing catch
With Freddy Peralta on the mound for just the second time after a long IL stint, teammate Tyrone Taylor helped him out by robbing a home run. He timed the play out perfectly and had to extend pretty far to keep this ball in the ball park!
6) Garrett Mitchell walk off hit against the Yankees
In the opening game of a three game series, the Brewers found themselves down big against the Yankees. Eventually they were able to claw back and in the bottom of the ninth rookie outfielder Garrett Mitchel delivered with his first career walk off hit.
5) Victor Caratini walk off three run home run
On the fourth of July, the Brewer provided an extra reason for fireworks. Against the rival Cubs, Victor Caratini capped off a come from behind win with a three run home run in the 10th inning!
4) A very clutch and non-routine double play from Adames and Wong
The Brewers had their post season hopes hanging in the balance when this double play was turned. The flip out of the glove was off the mark from Adames, but Wong was able to barehand it and throw an off balance strike to first base!
3) Double play against the Pirates in April.
In late April, Kolten Wong helped preserve a tie game by starting an insane double play. He not only made the diving catch, but then was able to flip the ball out of his glove while on the ground to Adames who then threw out the speedy Pirate Ke’Bryan Hayes.
2) Tyrone Taylor leaping catch against the right field wall
There is essentially no space in right field foul territory at Wrigley Field. However, that didn’t stop Tyrone Taylor from making a leaping catch at full speed against the wall to end the sixth inning! This catch had a very low catch probability but he was able to secure it.
1) Jonathan Davis catch in center field against the Rays
Jonathan Davis really put his body on the line for this catch. Diving towards the center field wall he was able to secure a catch despite hitting the wall in the process. He was in immediate pain and after the game Craig Counsell described the play as “spectacularly scary”. Davis did briefly remain in the game before exiting an inning later due to discomfort.
Of course there are a lot of other highlight reel plays that happened during the 2022 season, but these ten do stand out. Whether they were incredible catches, insane double plays, or clutch hits they were all “ring the bell” worthy!
