The Packers lost to the Vikings 23-7. A big part of that loss was the play of Justin Jefferson. The Packers secondary got torched allowing Jefferson to rack up 184 yards and 2 touchdowns. After the game, Aaron Rodgers had high praise for Justin Jefferson at midfield.

As they met each other at midfield, Rodgers was quick to give high praise to Jefferson. He called him the “best player in the game today”. Rodgers clearly looks deflated after the game probably wishing that he too had a transcendent receiver that could be the best player in the game. The awesome thing about this interaction is it is greatness recognizing greatness. Aaron Rodgers is still a top 5 quarterback in the league. Justin Jefferson is a top 5 wide receiver. Game is recognizing game here.
Green Bay Receivers
The Green Bay receivers did not have a good day. The potential is there but potential means nothing. The receivers have to translate that potential to the field and so far that has not happened. For Packers fans, it has to be frustrating to see a rival with such an impactful receiver. Rodgers talked about his young receivers in his postgame interview and preached patience. The Packers will have to continue to be patient and hope that one of their receivers can transform into a top receiver. Some of the meeting that midfield may have been a little bit about Aaron Rodgers wishing he had Justin Jefferson on his team.
Good Sportsmanship
For all of the flack that Rodgers gets for so many things, he shows good sportsmanship here. The Vikings are a huge rival and he does not have to go out of his way to tell Jefferson this. Anyone watching the game today could see that Jefferson was the best player in that game. Aaron Rodgers saying this to Justin Jefferson had to feel great for the young receiver.
This interaction also shows that Rodgers is thinking about the long game. Many Packers fans are frustrated and giving up on the season already. Rodgers knows this is just one game and next week is an opportunity to bounce back.
