Derek Carr met with the New York Jets
Free agent quarterback Derek Carr met with the New York Jets this past weekend. The four-time Pro Bowl athlete will be one of the most sought-after quarterbacks this offseason–behind Aaron Rodgers. The Jets have shown interest in both players.
While Carr met with the Jets, Rodgers participated in his darkness retreat. There are still no reports of Rodgers’ retirement decision for the 2023 season. A new report came out on how the meeting with Carr and the Jets went.
According to Jeff Darlington on ESPN’s show Get UP, the meeting between Carr and the Jets was positive, and the team feels like Carr can lead them to a championship.

The Jets are waiting on Rodgers
According to Darlington, the Jets are still waiting on Rodgers’ decision to play next season and the Packers’ decision on whether to trade him. But the timing of Rodgers’ decision is throwing the Jets off:
“The team also remains fascinated in the possibility of adding [ Rodgers],” Darlington said. “So why is that a problem? The timeline. Right now, we’re looking at a situation where Aaron Rodgers hasn’t even gone to the Packers to say whether he wants to be traded. We don’t know if the Packers would be willing to trade him…So do the Jets go hard for Derek Carr now, or do they risk potentially losing him, and waiting it out for Aaron Rodgers?”
Rodgers said he’d know whether or not he was playing in 2023 around the time he finished with his darkness retreat. So we should have one answer. As to where he plays, that could be a while. Because the Packers are letting players’ contracts that Rodgers wants back expire and count against the dead cap Monday afternoon, one would assume the Packers are planning for a Green Bay without the four-time MVP.
