On Saturday night, the UCONN Huskies were the 25th-ranked team in the country against the Marquette Golden Eagles, who were the ninth-ranked team in the nation. UCONN is not the same team as they were last season and this is the first time that Marquette would be facing them since the Big East title game a season ago.
Dan Hurley’s squad came out on top in this game by a final score of 77-69. UCONN led by 13 points at halftime and there was a point in the game where the Huskies led by more points than that. UCONN is 16-6 overall and 8-3 in conference play and Marquette is 18-4 overall and 9-2 in league play.

When the game was televised on FOX, they loved to go with coaches being mic’d up in the huddle. Everyone wanted to know what the Huskies head coach was going to say in the huddle. During one of the timeouts, Hurley said:
“With everything we’ve been through this year, how are they more desperate than us?”
Well, this was an interesting quote. With the way Hurley said it during the game, it felt like he was being a psychopath about it. UCONN had three players score in double figures. Solo Ball had 25 points and 11 rebounds. Alex Karaban had 15 points and Samson Johnson had 13 points.
They have won back-to-back titles the last two seasons, but this is a different Huskies team this season. They will probably make the NCAA Tournament, but they won’t be a one-seed probably.

This will not be the last time this season that Marquette and UCONN will face each other. Also, there is no surprise that there are Dan Hurley critics out there. Also, it is possible that the Huskies and the Golden Eagles could face each other in the Big East Tournament this season.
