Third baseman Travis Shaw’s contract with the Milwaukee Brewers is now official.
Despite appearing in 10 games in Spring Training, Shaw was not a member of the team quite yet. Prior to today, Shaw had signed a minor league contract with an opportunity to make a roster spot.
Today, he made that roster spot.
Per Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, the Brewers informed Shaw that he will be on the team for the 2021 season. He will be making $1.5 million in salary, with up to $1.5 million more in incentives.
Source: the #Brewers deal with Travis Shaw is done. He had right to opt out Monday but team responded positively as expected and $1.5 M contract previously agreed upon (with another $1.5 M in incentives) goes into effect. Team has to open 40-man roster spot to announce it.

Shaw is batting .150 in 20 at-bats this spring. He spent last season in Toronto, where he hit .239 with 6 home runs, 17 RBIs, and a .717 OPS.
