Trade rumors involving wide receivers are numerous right now
The November 1st trade deadline is quickly approaching. The Green Bay Packers are expected to be buyers before the deadline. With heavy injuries at wide receiver and the offensive line, the Packers could be looking to make a major move on offense. This week, trade rumors for potential weapons have been floating all over the media. One wide receiver is grabbing Packers fans attention.
Kristopher Knox with Bleacher Report suggested the Packers could go after Houston Texans wide receiver Brandin Cooks. As a former first-round draft pick, Cooks could be a great fit with quarterback Aaron Rodgers. However, as Knox points out, Cooks has a heavy price tag.
Green Bay is coming off a disappointing loss in London, but at 3-2, the Packers are still very much in the playoff hunt. They could also use a go-to receiver, as the new-look group that no longer features Davante Adams hasn’t been reliable.
Cooks, who is coming off back-to-back 1,000-yard campaigns, could provide an immediate boost.
Financially, it would be a difficult trade to execute, but the Packers do have $7.8 million in cap space available. They also have a quarterback in Aaron Rodgers who isn’t providing MVP-level play (95.8 passer rating, down from 111.9 last season) largely because of his receiving corps.
If the Packers could find a way to make the financial situation work, this could be the perfect deal to fix the offense for a playoff run. According to Ian Rapoport with the NFL Network, multiple NFL teams appear interested in Cooks.
Big-name WRs generating trade interest:
— #Texans WR Brandin Cooks has been the target of multiple calls.
— #Steelers WR Chase Claypool has been in focus, but is not expected to be deal, barring a shift.
— Broncos WR Jerry Jeudy has been the center of calls, as DEN sputtered.— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) October 23, 2022
Packers fans like the idea of trading for Cooks
Cooks’ name had some Packers beat writers‘ and fans’ attention. The team currently has a 3-3 record, which was not where many analysts or fans thought the Packers would be heading into late October. It’s no surprise fans are looking for any trade rumors that can help improve the offense. Here are some of the best Twitter takes on the possibility that Cooks could be traded to Green Bay.
Didn’t even think Houston would be willing to deal Cooks. I’ve wanted to see him in Green Bay for… a while. He’s as steady as they come. https://t.co/M06V9rf5Gm

While Jeudy has been a disappointment in Denver, he'd be the #Packers' No. 1 WR the minute he walked on the field.
Gutekunst should offer a 3. If that's not enough, offer every 3 for the next five years.😉 https://t.co/WPy9a6QBXl

I don't want to admit what I'd do to get Brandin Cooks in a Packers uniform. Vile things. https://t.co/psXCAm1VhL
