The Packers are approaching the start of the new league year, and there is one big question that remains unanswered. Is Aaron Rodgers coming back, and at what cost? If Rodgers does decide to return then the Packers may have to extend him to create cap space. Also, knowing Rodgers’ financial situation will go a long way in figuring out Davante Adams’ contract. However, one fall out of Aaron Rodgers’ return that isn’t being discussed is what happens with Jordan Love.
If Aaron Rodgers is coming back for the near future it does the Packers no good for Jordan Love to sit the entirety of his rookie contract. Brian Gutekunst has said they are not taking calls for Jordan Love, but it’s possible Jordan Love would want out if he sees no path to being the quarterback in Green Bay. What are potential landing spots for Jordan Love?
3. Denver Broncos
The Denver Broncos are a team that comes up in many Aaron Rodgers trade scenarios. However, former Packers offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett’s hiring increased the speculation that Denver is eyeing Aaron Rodgers. If Rodgers decides to stay, Hackett might settle for Jordan Love.
Denver needs a quarterback, and Love would be familiar with the offense right away. He’s spent two years behind the MVP and learning from the best. Love would have a variety of weapons at his disposal and could be the starter right away.
2. New York Giants
The New York Giants have not gotten the results out of Daniel Jones that they had hoped. The new head coach, Brian Daboll, played a huge role in the development of Josh Allen. However, he had multiple years to mold Allen. With Jones, he may only have one. Trading for Jordan Love would get him a first-round talent at quarterback who has everything in front of him.
1. Pittsburgh Steelers
The Steelers are one of the few teams that are a quarterback away from being title contenders. Big Ben was not giving enough from the quarterback position for the offense to succeed. The Steelers have a top-tier defense, a young star at running back, and a great wide receiver in Dionte Johnson. Not having to be a superstar on day one would be the best-case scenario for Jordan Love. Playing in Pittsburgh would put him in a situation where he has a great defense and running game to fall back on. Additionally, Love would benefit from having an experienced head coach with Mike Tomlin.
