Wisconsin Badgers basketball is arguably the best program to utilize the transfer portal in preparing for the next season but they could provide the best example, too, to contend why such feature in college basketball is not desirable.

Michigan State Spartans coach Tom Izzo was among the special guests at the Garding Against Cancer event hosted by the Badgers basketball program and head coach Greg Gard. The team even gifted him a customized Green Bay Packers jersey.
Izzo was asked about his opinion on the transfer portal which was first implemented in 2018 to make it easier for students to jump from one team to another when they feel like to.
His opinion will not be well taken by those who are for it.

“You had a guy here (at Wisconsin), 8 school in 8 years, I don’t know if that’s healthy, I don’t believe it’s healthy,” he said.
“Someone can prove me wrong, I’ll jump in with you.”
Who is that Wisconsin Badgers player?
He did not name the player but the consensus is that it is AJ Storr.
Storr is now on his fourth school since entering college in 2022. He first played for St. John’s Red Storm, spent one season there before moving to Wisconsin in 2023.
He then transferred to Kansas Jayhawks the next year and finished the season averaging 6.1 ppg in 15 minutes per game. Those were his lowest so far.

He will play the 2025-2026 season with Ole Miss Rebels in the Southeastern Conference?
Opinion about Storr is polarizing. Some think he is just trying to make good use of the portal while others, like Izzo, does not think it is right to jump ship one after the other.
