On Sunday night against the Eagles, Aaron Rodgers left midway through the third quarter due to injury. This meant that Jordan Love would play out the fourth quarter. He played really well and looked to be in command of the offense. Even though the Packers did not pull out the win, the play of Love was positive. Packers quarterbacks coach Tom Clements had a case of deja vu during Jordan Love’s performance on Sunday night.
Clements says Jordan Love's play Sunday night reminded him of Aaron Rodgers vs Cowboys in 2007: "Jordan didn't play as much this past game, but when he runs the scout team against our defense, he's making plays. So it's gratifying to see … he did the same things in the game."

Tom Clements Talks Jordan Love’s Performance
The similarities between Aaron Rodgers’ first game and this game are eerie. Rodgers came in for an injured Brett Favre against the Cowboys and played well in a limited capacity. Tom Clements talked about how Jordan Love reminded him of that night in 2007. He is very pleased with the development of Jordan Love.
“When he runs the scout team against our defense, he’s making plays. So it’s gratifying to see…he did the same things in the game”
Clements has seen a lot of quarterbacks in his time coaching. For him to give Love this type of compliment shows how well Jordan Love played.
An Offseason Of Intrigue
This has now become the most intriguing storyline for the Packers. Until this is resolved, everyone will be giving opinions on what the Packers should do. The team has to decide what direction they are going to go. Last time with Favre and Rodgers, the Packers chose to go with the younger guy and move on from Favre. Will the Packers decide to do the same thing again? Or will they try and trade Love and ride it out with Rodgers? Whatever happens, it will be one of the biggest storylines of the offseason.
It was great to hear Tom Clements talk about Jordan Love. So much has been made of his development and it finally seems like he is becoming the quarterback the Packers drafted him to be. Hopefully, we will get to see more of Love this season so we can continue to see how he has developed.
