Per the Packers ‘ website, the team signed Thyrick Pitts Jr. to their practice squad in December. He was a standout in college:

(thigh-rick) Pitts (6-2, 201), a rookie, was originally signed by the Chicago Bears as an undrafted free agent out of the University of Delaware in May 2023. He was released by the Bears in early August and claimed off waivers by the New England Patriots. He went on to spend training camp with the Patriots and had a brief stint on New England’s practice squad.

In college, Pitts played in 59 contests and recorded 172 receptions for 2,429 yards (14.1 avg.) and 23 touchdowns. He was named first-team All-CAA for the 2020-21 season, second-team All-CAA for the 2021 fall season and third-team All-CAA for 2022. Pitts will wear No. 16 for the Packers.

According to Zac Ventola with Patriots Today, Pitts announced his retirement via Instagram. He plans to pursue a new career in financial management:

“Since I was 4 years old, l’ve had a football in my hand. l’ve been very fortunate to play this game every fall for the past 21 years. Thank you to everyone who was part of this journey and all the family I have made along the way. You’ve helped me to fulfill my childhood dreams of playing college football and playing in the NFL.

Today, I’m officially hanging up my cleats and turning to the next chapter of my life. ‘m excited to announce that I’ll be joining a multi- million dollar financial management team at Ameriprise Financial. With all the support l’ve received along the way, I want to pay it forward and give back to the community. My goal is to assist people in managing their finances, understanding financial concepts, and helping families create financial plans for the future.

    Onwards and Upwards!”

We wish Pitts the best in his future endeavors.
