The Green Bay Packers are facing an uphill battle to get into the 2022-23 post-season. Last week with their win over Chicago, their playoff odds nearly doubled. The Packers had a bye in Week 14, yet their playoff odds are pretty high if they win their final four games. NFL Week 15 will be big for Green Bay’s playoff picture as three games will directly impact their chances.
NFL Week 15 Game No. 1: San Francisco 49ers (9-4) At Seattle Seahawks (7-6) on TNF
The Carolina Panthers did the Packers a huge favor in week 14 by knocking off the Seahawks in Seattle. That loss consequently brings Green Bay one step closer to that possible final wild card spot. The Packers will need more help from San Francisco in NFL Week 15. The 49ers are coming off a huge 35-7 win vs the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. For the Packers’ sake, we hope the 49ers keep that momentum rolling into Thursday night and add another loss on for the Seahawks. A loss would have Seattle fall to 7-7. If Green Bay beats the Rams they’ll move to 6-8, just one game back from Seattle.
NFL Week 15 Game No. 2: New York Giants (7-5-1) At Washington Commanders (7-5-1)
This is a game Green Bay just can’t afford a tie. The last time the Commanders and Giants met (in week 13) it ended in a 20-20 tie. If Green Bay is going to catch one of these teams, one team needs to lose in NFL Week 15. Which one should Packers fans want to lose? I would say the New York Giants as their remaining schedule is a tad tougher than the Commanders’. New York’s final three opponents after they face the Commanders are the Vikings (10-3), Colts (4-8-1), and the Eagles (12-1). The Commanders’ final three games after they play the Giants are the 49ers (9-4), Browns (5-8), and Cowboys (10-3). Either way, both teams have a tough finish to the season. As a result, Green Bay needs one of these teams to lose out the rest of the way. Hopefully, that starts this week.
NFL Week 15 Game No. 3: Detroit Lions (6-7) At New York Jets (7-6)
With Detroit’s upset win over the Minnesota Vikings, Green Bay will subsequently need Detroit to lose a few games between now and the end of the season. The Lions won the first head-to-head matchup vs. the Packers back in Week 9. The Packers and Lions will play each other again in the final week of the season, but a Lions loss between now and then would do the Packers some good.
These three NFL Week 15 games will certainly impact Green Bay’s ability to continue fighting for a playoff spot.
