The Green Bay Packers lost their fourth straight game last Sunday in Buffalo. It was almost an expected loss, but it is on to a new week. Needless to say, no team in the NFL needs a win more than the Packers. This week they take on their division rival, the Detroit Lions. Green Bay has had Detroit’s number for years. This week is essentially a must- win. If Green Bay comes out with a loss, there will be even more answers to question. Until they can get into a winning mode, I am at a 50-50 feeling on a win. Let’s take a look at three thing we can see come Sunday in Detroit:
Aaron Jones Rushes For Over 125 Yards
Despite the loss on Sunday, Green Bay had one of their best offensive showings all season, thanks to Aaron Jones. Last I week had mentioned that Jones is the best offensive weapon the Packers have right now and the offense needs to run through him. I surely hope that Matt Lafleur and his staff took notice of this and continue to utilize Jones. I do think that the Packers now have some sort of identity on their offense in terms of being able to run the football. This is something that Green Bay has not relied on for years, but, with the struggles in the wide receiver room, this offense should focus on the run game. I do expect to see another heavy dose of Jones on Sunday. The offensive line held their own against an elite Bills’ defensive line, which was another positive to take out of the game. If Green Bay can get consistency from their offensive line, and if Aaron Jones can keep doing his thing, we should be able to see good things happen on Sunday.
Green Bay’s Defense Gives Up Over 400 Yards of Total Offense
At this point, it is difficult to have confidence in Green Bay’s defense. The players are frustrated and there seems to no willingness of Joe Barry to make necessary adjustments. The biggest concern that I see with this defense is that Joe Barry does not have a scheme that is fitting and molds around the players he has. I would think a defensive coordinator would be able to recognize this, but that has not happened. Detroit’s offense does not have really any playmakers other than De’Andre Swift and Amon- Ra St. Brown. However, as we saw last season, the Detroit Lions’ offense can surprise anyone if not prepared. In the end, I think Green Bay’s defense will struggle again this week and give the Lions’ a shot to win this game.
Green Bay Gets Their First Win In Four Weeks
Green Bay is extremely desperate for a win. The Detroit Lions are still trying to rebuild. There is no other week than this for the Packers to get back on track. I think that a win will really boost this team’s confidence, especially for the young players who may not have ever been in this situation before. As mentioned above, I think the defense is going to struggle. But, I am anticipating some late-game turnovers by Jared Goff. How will they get the win? The short answer is Mason Crosby. This game will be tight-knit from start to finish. The reality is that Green Bay is struggling this season against teams that they should be beating. No one expected this, but that is what is going on. At this point, we need to take the wins when they come and how they come.
