The Green Bay Packers are coming off of a much-needed bye week and are preparing to take on the Chicago Bears. With a win and a Vikings’ loss, the Packers will be crowned NFC North champions. That has a good ring to it, doesn’t it? Securing a division title before Christmas is every team’s hope. But, every matchup with the Bears is a dogfight. Justin Fields will be back Sunday and Chicago will be looking for revenge. What can we expect in this primetime game? Let’s take a look:
Aaron Rodgers Passes for Over 300 Yards
This prediction should not come as a surprise. Aaron Rodgers is capable of accomplishing this feat at any time. This might be tougher to achieve, though. Reports came out today saying that Randall Cobb will miss significant time with a core injury. With only Davante Adams and Marquez Valdes- Scantling, there is not really a third option. But, one person who could have a big day is Josiah Deguara. Though mostly known for his blocking, Deguara has proven his worth outside the hashes. Marcedes Lewis is not an every-down tight end and Amari Rodgers has not been consistent. I expect Josiah Deguara to contribute mightly on Sunday, and fans should too.
Justin Fields Gets Benched for Nick Foles
For Matt Nagy, this is truly a must-win game. If the Bears do not win Sunday, he is most likely out of Chicago at the end of the season. It has been said many times this season that Justin Fields is not ready to play in the NFL. He has shown flashes of excellence. But, he has only four touchdowns in eight starts. At any sight of struggle, I think Nick Foles makes an appearance. This type of move would be made by a coach desperate to keep their job. It is also puzzling that a quarterback who won a Super Bowl MVP four years ago is third string on a depth chart. Justin Fields is just not in a good position with Chicago, and is honestly not the best option at quarterback. He needs more time to develop and learn the game.
Green Bay Wins the NFC North Title
With a first round bye still in play, Green Bay has unfinished business. The Packers have been fortunate enough to build a solid lead in the NFC North. Minnesota plays tonight and Dalvin Cook is still questionable. Cook’s playing status and Chicago’s quarterback play, serves an advantage for the Packers. Green Bay has been looking like a legitimate Super Bowl contender since week two and have shown only improvements thus far. Once this team can be full heathy, the more dangerous they can become. At this moment in time, everything is aiming towards Green Bay being crowned 2021 NFC North Champions.
