DK Metcalf has been at the center of trade talks all off-season long. With Seattle in the middle of a likely rebuild, paying DK Metcalf top of market value wouldn’t make sense for them. Limiting as much future cap hits as possible are what teams who are currently rebuilding try to manage. What these teams also try to do is build up as much draft capital as possible. The Seahawks have already done that with Russell Wilson, however they could double down with DK Metcalf.
After Davante Adams and Tyreek Hill were traded in the same off-season the trade value for premium wide receivers is at an all-time high. Many big-name wide receivers are entering their “contract year” and are looking for a big pay day either this year or the 2023 off-season. Those names include DK Metcalf, Terry McLaurin, and AJ Brown, and Deebo Samuel.
The Trade:
Packers receive:
- WR DK Metcalf
- 2022 fourth round draft pick
Seahawks receive:
- 2022 first round pick
- 2022 second round pick
- 2023 third round pick
- 2023 fourth round pick
The Packers received two premium draft picks for Davante Adams, and the Chiefs received two premium draft picks for Tyreek Hill. Hill’s trade also included some later round picks that the Chiefs received. It would figure that DK Metcalf’s asking price would fall somewhere in-between those two trades. Additionally Green Bay would be committing to pay DK Metcalf what they were going to pay Davante Adams.

Seahawks will never accept that offer.
Couldn’t agree more.
I’ll lead with the fact that I’m a Hawks fan, so I’m personally biased here, but none of these (“these” being the million and 1 articles from all sites, not this site specifically) have been even close. DK is much younger than Tyreek or Davante, so I’d think would require much more capital than them, not less.
Referencing back to my Hawks fandom, I think that after we got fleeced in the Russ trade, the entirety of the Seattle metropolitan area would revolt against John Schneider for even thinking about trading DK
And if I’m the Packers I wouldn’t give up that much for any receiver. Rodgers can make a good receiver great.
Do people lay awake at night trying to figure out how to piss off Seahawks fans? I mean, they talk like the trade has already happened. What a joke. We need DK. We need to use him the way he should be and wants to be used! Jimmy Graham was a bust, because we didn’t use him properly. How many players have we had who we blew an awful amount of money on, who didn’t live up to the potential, because we didn’t integrate them into the game? We need to stop making the same mistakes of the past, and make the great talent we have bring us more championships!
