Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy offers an answer that suggests Dallas will pursue Odell Beckham Jr.
The Dallas Cowboys and Green Bay Packers will battle at Lambeau Field on Sunday but that might not be the only battle the two teams have.
Wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. is reportedly set to be cleared this week and will have teams interested in signing him. That includes the Packers who are still seeking help at the position.
But after Sunday’s loss in Detroit, Green Bay’s hopes may have gone down the drain. And the team to beat in this race to sign him could be the Cowboys.
Head coach Mike McCarthy was asked about Beckham Jr. and the idea of signing him as a free agent. He offered an interesting answer by complimenting his receivers but also hinting they would be interested in Beckham Jr.:
Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy said “we really love our receiver group.” But with free agent WR Odell Beckham, “I’ve always been a huge fan of his. …I’ve just heard so many excellent, excellent things about him.”

Right now, I think it’s time to rule out the Packers for a player like Beckham Jr. for multiple reasons.
The biggest one being that this season has gone downhill in a hurry and the team probably isn’t going to the playoffs. Spending money on Beckham Jr. probably doesn’t push the needle towards a playoff run.
Plus, Beckham Jr. is likely to want to go to a contender and play in the postseason. And that’s probably not in the cards for Green Bay.
