The Bucks NBA preseason starts up this month and there are a few fun things to keep on the radar for NBA fans. (Isn’t this the best part of the year for sports? Soon we’ll have NFL football, the MLB playoffs, college football, and NBA training camps!)
Right now it appears the Bucks will have a soft opening of Sept. 28th for training camp. And of course, unlike the NFL and MLB, NBA practices are closed affairs, offering fans few opportunities to watch practice, save the preseason games. So, most of what we will learn about the status of Brook Lopez’s back or Khris Middleton will be more “wait-and-see”.
Preseason
The Bucks open up their preseason with a warm-up against the Grizzlies on Oct. 1st. The Bucks, and all of the NBA preseason, differs from team to team.
On Oct. 6th and Oct. 8th the Bucks play the Hawks in Ahu Dhabi. That is when you may actually see some players like Jrue Holiday and even Giannis play limited minutes to keep the global NBA hype machine rolling. (Click here to check out how he is the #1 power forward in the NBA.) The Bucks NBA preseason will hopefully be uneventful as almost all of the roster spots seem to be decided. However, playing time is not and Coach Bud will want to use that to motivate his veteran team.
But before that in late September NBA training camps begin. Most NBA teams do the absolute best to postpone the arrival of the stars so we might never know what the Bucks front office has planned for the arrival of Giannis. But we will be sure to see Coach Bud and “planet Pat” and hopefully new rookie (and possible starter) MarJon Beaucamp.
The NBA season opens with the Bucks on the road in Philadelphia on Oct. 20th.
The first NBA game is Tuesday October 18th with the 76er’s taking on the Celtics and the Lakers playing the Golden State Warriors.
