Lovie Smith has a reason why former Packers WR Amari Rodgers found success on Sunday
Former Green Bay Packers wide receiver Amari Rodgers was the talk of Twitter on Sunday as the Packers were on their bey week. Rodgers was picked up by the Houston Texans a few weeks ago and it only took him two games to make an impact.
In a loss to Dallas, Rodgers finished the game with 4 receptions for 57 yards and his first career touchdown.
It was his best performance by far in his short career and it came on a really bad Texans team. Following the game, head coach Lovie Smith had an interesting comment on Rodgers’ play and potentially getting his career back on track.
Smith pointed to it being a ‘second chance’ for Rodgers:
‘Sometimes, we need a second chance. He’s been a pro about everything. He’s smart.” Smith said via Aaron Wilson. He’s bright. He’s got the ability. Now, his number was called, I thought he stepped up to the plate. Looked comfortable.’
Now, it’s just one game so maybe we should pump the breaks on this being a breakout. However, this is a positive for Rodgers and his career, getting that second chance in Houston.
Smith is probably true as well. Sometimes second chances are good for players in the NFL. And if that’s the case here for Rodgers, we are certainly rooting for him.
