Whenever the Milwaukee Brewers and Chicago Cubs play there is generally plenty of dramatics. In this Tuesday night game the drama began before the first pitch was even thrown.
This game was supposed to be a pitching rematch between Brandon Woodruff and Kyle Hendricks. Unfortunately, the cubs starter was scratched from the game. In return the Cubs elected to start Alec Mills whose last start in Milwaukee was when he threw a no hitter.
Mills ended up filling in nicely, but Woodruff was better. Woodruffs six inning pitched and one earned run helped tie a franchise record from 2011.
#Brewers starters have had 6 straight starts in which they have gone at least 5.0 innings while allowing 1 run or less. It marks the longest streak for the team since they had a franchise-record 7 in a row from 8/13-8/19, 2011. pic.twitter.com/9W9BrUPgRf

Offensively, Luis Urias provided some early run support in the second inning with a two run no doubt home run into left field. This was his first career home run as a Milwaukee Brewer.
The middle innings remained relatively quiet until the bottom of the fifth inning. Cubs pitcher Ryan Tepera stirred things up while pitching to Woodruff with two outs in the inning. His first pitch to Woodruff went well behind him and Woodruff was very vocal about his thoughts regarding he matter.
Given the teams history so far this year, warnings were issued to both teams. Thankfully it did not impact Woodruff’s composure and he went out to pitch a scoreless sixth inning afterwards.
The biggest game changing moment came during the eighth inning. With a 2-1 Brewers lead, Craig Counsell elected to use Brent Suter over Devin Williams. The end result was Wilson Contreras hitting a go-ahead two run home run and taunting the Milwaukee crowd as he rounded third base.
Willson Contreras launches a go-ahead, two-run home run off Brent Suter, chucks his bat and shushes the crowd as he rounds the bases.

Unfortunately, the Brewers offense was unable to put across any more runs. They did threaten to score in both the eighth and ninth innings but end up dropping this game 3-2.
Injury Notes:
Lorenzo Cain left the game early with quadriceps discomfort. With Christian Yelich missing his second consecutive game due to back tightness, the improved outfield depth is certainly paying dividends early on.
Outfielder Billy McKinney and shortstop Luis Urias had a collision in the outfield. McKinney slid low attempting to catch a fly ball and took Urias out near the lower leg. Both players finished the game.
