Former Jacksonville State and Wisconsin Badgers corner back Geimere Latimer has announced that he will enter the transfer portal for the second time in two years.
Latimer left Jacksonville State last off-season and quickly became a notable target for many power conference programs. The corner back recorded 46 tackles, three interceptions, five pass defenses, and a coverage grade of 68.4. Latimer was considered to be a three-star prospect and ultimately settled upon Wisconsin after receiving plenty of interest from opposing Big Ten Conference programs.
This past season, Latimer was unable to recreate the 2024 season he had and the corner back saw his snap count drop as the season went on. Latimer had a career-high six missed tackles and three touchdowns allowed this season. The corner back notably served solely as a slot back for Wisconsin which is a role that the defender previously did not focus on.

The defender is now the 13th Wisconsin player who has declared for the portal with many more names set to join. The transfer portal officially opens in just over two weeks, offering plenty of time to players to arrive upon a decision regarding the future.
Latimer joins the likes of Jake Renfro, Tackett Curtis, and Christian Alliegro as Wisconsin transfer portal entries.
Wisconsin Badgers CB Geimere Latimer Enters Transfer Portal One Season After Landing in Madison
Retention is the name of the game nowadays when coaches need to field both deep and talented rosters. However, retaining Latimer became less likely as time progressed between his snap count decreasing and the commitment flip of his brother, four-star running back Amari Latimer.
The running back was notably a top commitment for Wisconsin as the Badgers’ staff worked tirelessly and spent a great deal of resources on the recruit. Teams such as Michigan, Ohio State, and Texas had attempted to pry the recruit away from Wisconsin. Ultimately, West Virginia proved to be the most determined team with a need to fill the void that over 40 seniors will leave this off-season.
Following the commitment flip, rumors began to swirl regarding the possibility of the corner back following his brother to West Virginia. The duo expressed a desire to play together at the collegiate level, and Geimere had been the main link between the Badgers and Amari. Head Coach Rich Rodriguez personally recruited Amari and previously coached Geimere at Jacksonville State.
Losing Latimer is something the Badgers had recently come to terms with as the writing had been on the wall. However, Wisconsin will now need to attack the portal even harder despite already having eyes on multiple portal defensive backs.
How Wisconsin attacks the portal moving forward will be interesting given the fact that young defensive backs Omilio Agard and Cairo Skanes are the top returners at the position.
