The Green Bay Packers selected wide receiver Jayden Reed in the second round yesterday. While some thought this was a little bit of a reach, the tape on Reed is amazing. One NFL legend, Steve Smith, had some high praise for the newest Packers wide receiver.
"I love this fit."
"I can tell he has a high football IQ."
"Ability to understand coverages, catches ball away from the body. Attacks it."
"He has special teams value." @SteveSmithSr89 on new Packers WR Jayden Reed

Steve Smith Praises Green Bay Packers Pick Jayden Reed
If there is someone who knows wide receivers, it is Smith. He played many seasons in the NFL and had a lot of success. He could not stop raving about Reed.
“I love this fit”
“I can tell he has a high football IQ”
“Ability to understand coverages, catches ball away from the body. Attacks it”
“He has special teams value”
Smith just can’t say enough about him. Reed does fill a need in the offense. The slot receiver was a position that the Packers needed to fill and they seem to have found a good one in Reed.

Breaking The Mold
What is even crazier about Reed is that he doesn’t fit the mold of players GM Brian Gutekunst likes to draft. Gutekunst likes big players. Christian Watson is huge and fast. It was no surprise the Packers wanted him. Reed is a smaller player. While he is on the bigger side of many of the slot receivers in this draft, he is smaller than the players the Packers usually draft. This shows fans what the front office thinks of this player. I would also not be surprised if Rich Bisaccia loved his special teams tape and pushed for him as well.
Round two was a home run for the Packers. They filled a bunch of needs and got some quality players in the building. This is going to be a fun young team to watch in the 2023 season.
