He has been the head coach for Ohio State since the 2017-2018 season. Had the Badgers not beaten the Ohio State Buckeyes on Tuesday night, head coach Greg Gard would have been feeling the heat from this fanbase. Gard has been coaching the program since 2015-2016, when Bo Ryan retired as head coach and he has been with the program for a long time. Instead, Ohio State made a move at head coach by parting ways with Holtmann.
