Will Mike LaFleur join his older brother and current Packers Head Coach, Matt, in Green Bay?
Will Mike LaFleur Join His Brother In Green Bay?
The end to the 2022-23 NFL season was tough on both Matt and Mike LaFleur. While on one hand, Matt and the Green Bay Packers head much more lofty pre-season expectations than Mike and the New York Jets, and even though the Packers’ season ended in much more dramatic fashion, at least Matt LaFleur has remained at his post, manning the sidelines and running the show for one of the NFL’s most premier clubs.
However, the same can’t be said for Matt’s younger brother, Mike, who was fired by the Jets as the team’s Offensive Coordinator following New York’s loss to the Miami Dolphins in week 18. While it’s extremely unlikely that Matt would give up play-calling duties, nor should he after Green Bay has posted top-10 offenses in each of Matt’s four seasons as the team’s Head Coach and play-caller, there’s reason to believe that Matt could use a wingman on the offensive side of the ball.
Could Another Familiar Face Join Matt LaFleur’s Staff?
While it almost makes too much sense for a LaFleur family reunion to occur in Green Bay, Matt’s most recent number-two, Nathaniel Hackett was just fired as the Denver Broncos Head Coach after just one (not even full) season. Could Matt bring in both Hackett and his brother, Mike, or would that cause a ‘too many cooks in the kitchen’ scenario on the Packers’ sidelines?
Another massive question mark surround the Packers, especially on offense, is the pending future of sure-fire NFL Hall of Famer, QB, Aaron Rodgers. The Packers all-time leader in touchdown passes seemingly tosses fuel onto the fire when any retirement or departure rumors arise, which is already causing mass hysteria for Packers fans and media alike, less than a full week following the club’s season-ending.
