While Serge Ibaka does not get much playing time with the Bucks, he brings a lot of veteran leadership. He has been around the league a long time and is well respected amongst his peers. This made the recent comments that former teammate Kendrick Perkins made baffling. Perkins insinuated that Ibaka may have lied about his age and is older than he says. Serge Ibaka responded to Kendrick Perkins on social media today.
Hey @KendrickPerkins, I count my blessings every day and I don’t usually react to comments about me. But It's disappointing to hear someone I shared a locker room with spreading misinformation to be relevant and get views on TV and social media. https://t.co/MRdXJwGpJZ

Serge Ibaka Responds to Kendrick Perkins
In a multi-thread post, Ibaka gave a very strong response to Perkins. “It’s disappointing to hear someone I shared a locker room with spreading misinformation,” Ibaka said in a tweet. He went on to call out Perkins for breaking the locker room code and talking about Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook behind their backs in Oklahoma City. He essentially calls out Perkins for just offering a take to get more views.
Arms Race Of Sports Media
There is so much sports content out there, media outlets often have to compete hard for views. For the mainstream media, this means bringing on a lot of former players and having them say outrageous things. Perkins definitely fits the bill. Throughout his career as an “analyst”, he offers wild takes based on very little evidence. This is just the latest one but it went a little too far. I get that Perkins was trying to make a shocking take but it just crossed the line.
Serge Ibaka had every right to respond the way he did to Kendrick Perkins. Ultimately, Perkins is one of those people that fans can simply ignore and not worry about what he has to say. I’m sure Ibaka will be moving on and focusing on winning an NBA championship with the Milwaukee Bucks.
