Ryan Rollins joins elite Bucks company with 32-point night vs Warriors

Ryan Rollins is off to a fantastic start to his second full season with the Milwaukee Bucks. Kevin Porter Jr.’s injury has pushed him into the starting lineup, where Rollins has proven to be more than capable.

His latest performance, a 32-point night in a win over the Warriors, drew attention across the league. The Bucks did not have Giannis Antetokounmpo available for the game. They had Rollins. He was more than Golden State could handle, outplaying Steph Curry and Jimmy Butler, frustrating Draymond Green.

Just how epic was Rollins’ outpouring? His night to remember – the first of many – adds his name to a trio of former Bucks who put up equivalent single-game stat lines.

Rollins inks his name alongside Milwaukee greats of seasons past

At age 23, just 23 starts into his NBA career, Rollins has entered the franchise archives.

Players in Bucks history with 30 points, 8 assists, 5 threes, and 1 or fewer turnovers in a game:

    • Damian Lillard
    • Khris Middleton
    • Brandon Jennings
    • Ryan Rollins

Rollins’ box score vs Golden State: 32 points, 8 assists, one turnover, 5-7 from three, and 13-21 from the field overall.

Joining the likes of Lillard and Middleton in any list of Bucks history is certainly a promising achievement for Rollins’ young career. He’s only on the upswing.

Just the fourth 20-point game of his career, his 32 against the Warriors came two days after dropping a then-career-high 25 on the Knicks, fueling the Bucks to a statement win on national TV.

Fans already knew about Rollins’ defense, but his contributions on offense have been a revelation. Even in a five-game sample size, his 18.6 PPG and 5.0 APG are more than anyone could have anticipated. While it isn’t realistic to expect him to maintain that level of production, he has established himself as a bona fide starter. Anyone who dismissed Thursday night as a one-off fluke has another thing coming – consider notice given to the rest of the league. Whoever he is, this ‘Rollins kid’ is legit.
