Ryan Clark Sounds Off On Aaron Rodgers and Former OC

Last week the Jets hired former Packers offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett. The hire, similar to his hire in Denver, raised plenty of speculation about the Jets trying to lure Aaron Rodgers to Green Bay. ESPN analyst Ryan Clark had some strong opinions on the hire of Nathaniel Hackett and questioned Aaron Rodgers’ ability.

.@Realrclark25 can't get behind the Jets hiring Nathaniel Hackett 😳

    Clark’s Comments On Nathaniel Hackett

Ryan Clark’s comments about Nathaniel Hackett being hired to simply lure Aaron Rodgers are simply his opinion. In reality, there is no way to know whether this is the case. His comments about Hackett’s failure to win in Denver however, are fair. Hackett was hired for what he was able to do with Green Bay’s offense. In Denver, the offense was near the bottom of the league. The hire is a slight head-scratcher, but nothing out of the ordinary. Head coaches get fired and rehired as coordinators often, and this situation could be no different.

The comments that really stick out are the comments about hiring Hackket to get Rodgers to be “stupid.” Clark went on to say that the Jets don’t need Rodgers. He said going after Rodgers is a bad decision because in his great career, he has only won one Super Bowl. He thinks the Jets should be looking in another direction at the quarterback position.

In all, Nathaniel Hackett is a capable coach in the NFL. He has had success as an offensive coordinator and the Jets may simply be looking for him to bring some of what he brought to Green Bay’s offense. The fact that the Jets are looking for a quarterback is the only reason for these discussions.

Ryan Clark’s History With Aaron Rodgers

Ryan Clark has publicly been a critic of Aaron Rodgers the last few years. One thing to note is that Ryan Clark was on the losing side of Super Bowl XLV when Rodgers won Super Bowl MVP after defeating the Steelers. Clark should know better than anyone, as a former player, that one player cannot win a Super Bowl by himself. Judging Rodgers on his Super Bowl wins seems to discredit him as a player. Clark is overlooking Rodgers’ four MVP awards in this case.
