It’s no secret that almost every NBA fan who isn’t supporting the Milwaukee Bucks would move heaven and earth to get Giannis Antetokounmpo on their side. The forward has been one of the most dominant power forwards in today’s NBA.
His unique blend of size and athleticism still leaves opponents struggling to find a way to contain him. He’s also a proven winner, bringing home the Larry O’Brien trophy back to Milwaukee in 2021 after beating Devin Booker and the Phoenix Suns.
He’s so viable of a player there are teams constantly linked to making a big trade for him. One of his most popular suitors is the Golden State Warriors, with Paul Pierce even suggesting the Dubs should be willing to sell the farm to get him to the Bay Area.
While many Bucks fans would rather see the team lose every playoff series than see their star win with another team, an analyst’s take on the Dubs’ owner’s mentality all but confirmed the rumors of a potential Giannis trade.
Analyst reveals Warriors’ eagerness to trade for Milwaukee Bucks’ Giannis Antetokounmpo
The Athletic’s Sam Amick reported that the Warriors, especially owner Joe Lacob, are interested in bringing Giannis over. However, they also understand that it’s more likely that they’ll have to settle for Khris Middleton as the Bucks are in no way interested in moving their star forward.
Per Bolavip’s Alexander Rosquez:
“One that I think is just always going to be monitored around the NBA is if the wheels fall off the [Milwaukee] Bucks. We know that Joe Lacob has had dreams of Giannis coming the Warriors’ way for a very long time,” Amick said on “The TK Show” podcast. “Again, unlikely, but Khris Middleton is going to be a free agent next summer. He’s been hurt so much.”
It’s easy to imagine why the Warriors would love to have Antetokounmpo. The Milwaukee Bucks star can bring attention to himself with his unstoppable drives to the basket, making life easier for Stephen Curry from the three-point line.
The dream of seeing the two work together will remain just that, though. Unless they somehow convince the Bucks to move on from their tar man, they would have to settle with imagining how such a pairing would play out.
