That Rowdy Tellez trade is really working out for the Milwaukee Brewers. Almost one year ago now, the Brewers traded Trevor Richards and Bowden Francis to the Toronto Blue Jays for the veteran first baseman. Since joining the club, Tellez has become a cult hero in Milwaukee, garnering chants of “Rowdy, Rowdy, Rowdy” similar to how Milwaukee Bucks’ hero Bobby Portis gets chants of “Bobby, Bobby, Bobby.” In Sunday’s series finale against the Blue Jays, Tellez gave fans plenty to cheer and chant about.
Rowdy Tellez Hit Two Home Runs
Rowdy Tellez went 2-4 on the day with two home runs and four RBI. He hit his two home runs within the game’s first two innings. According to ESPN’s Stat and Info, Tellez became the first Brewers player with two home runs sand four RBI in a game’s first two innings since Robin Yount in 1982. It was Tellez’s seventh career multi-homer game.

Rowdy Tellez is now hitting .248/.322/.475 this season with 13 home runs and a team-leading 45 RBI.
Following the game, Rowdy chatted with Bally Sports Wisconsin’s Sophia Minnaert and expressed how much it means to him to play in Milwaukee for the fans.
"I couldn't be more happy to be here in Milwaukee and be around this fan base and play in front of these people."

The Brewers Were Playing Short-Handed
The Milwaukee Brewers were without right fielder Hunter Renfroe, who was put on the 10-day IL prior to the game. Jonathan Davis started in center field while Tyrone Taylor took Renfroe’s place in right field. Davis went 1-3 with a walk. He scored on Adames’ RBI single in the second and drove in a run of his own earlier in the inning. Taylor was 1-4 with a run scored.
Willy Adames and Omar Narvaez Had Multi-Hit Games
Five Milwaukee Brewers players were sent to the All-Star Game last season: Brandon Woodruff, Corbin Burnes, Freddy Peralta, Josh Hader, and Omar Narvaez. This season, the offense has been incredibly inconsistent, and few position players even have a case to be All-Stars. The two with the best cases, though, are Willy Adames and Narvaez, who each had multiple hits against the Blue Jays on Sunday.
Adames was 3-5 with and a RBI and two runs scored. While his .216/.286/.485 slash line does not garner much attention, he does lead all National League short stops with 15 home runs. Adames also has 39 RBI on the season.
Omar Narvaez finished the day 2-4 with a RBI. He is now hitting .259/.338/.378 on the season.
Chi Chi Gonzalez and the Bullpen Did Enough to Win
Chi Chi Gonzalez made his second start of the season for the Milwaukee Brewers. With Brandon Woodruff scheduled to rejoin the team on Tuesday to start against the Tampa Bay Rays, one has to assume that Gonzalez’s time as a starter may be expiring.

Gonzalez pitched four innings and allowed three runs on four hits and two walks. He also struck out three.
Jandal Gustave got the win for the Brewers after pitching two innings of shutout ball. Trevor Gott, Brent Suter, and Trevor Kelley each pitched a scoreless inning of relief as well.
Game Notes
- The St. Louis Cardinals fell to the Chicago Cubs today, meaning the Milwaukee Brewers now hold a one-game lead for first place in the NL Central.
- Christian Yelich was 1-3 with two runs scored and two walks.
- Entering the series finale, Rowdy Tellez was hitting just .236/.333/.333 with one home run and four RBI in the month of June.
- Jonathan Davis has played five games for the Milwaukee Brewers since Lorenzo Cain was DFA’d; he has gotten at least one hit in four of those games and is hitting .278/.381/.278.
Up Next
The Milwaukee Brewers have an off day on Monday before heading to Tampa Bay for a four-game series. Brandon Woodruff will start for the Brewers, but the Rays have not announced who their starter will be.

Homerun in 17/30 parks is irrelevant. The only thing that matters is that they were homeruns in the park they were hit in.
