The Packers had to be nervous about their receiver group going into training camp. This off-season they lost three of their top five receivers from last year. Of course Green Bay attempted to fill the need with the draft a few months back. They drafted three wide receivers out of their 11 picks. Although second round pick Christian Watson was the one everyone had their eyes on. He’s not the rookie making heads turn in camp. Watson has been on the pup list and fourth round pick Romeo Doubs has been making everyone take notice. The rookie receivers playing like a WR1.
Aaron Rodgers was vocal on the rookies performance so far. “Every single day, there’s been at least one ‘wow’ play. And that’s rare for a young guy like that,” Rodgers said, via Packers Wire. “We’ve had some guys over the years do that, but they are all in the top 10 of Packers receiving history. Good start for him.”
Doubs is a big 6’2 200 pound receiver that also has a lot of speed and good hands. Packers are starting to see that he could be the steal of the draft. When Watson is able to return I could see Doubs and Watson being the future of the Packers receiving group.
The rookie receivers played his college career at Nevada where he managed to have over 1000 yards his last two years. Doubs has everybody’s attention, now let’s see if he becomes the top pass catcher for Rodgers entering the season.
