Romeo Doubs’ Statistical Rank Amongst All Rookie WRs Is Shocking

The Green Bay Packers seem to have certainly found a gem in fourth round pick Romeo Doubs.  While week one was rough for the entire offense, they slowly seem to be figuring things out.  The Packers have rattled off two wins vs the Bears and Buccaneers.  Someone who has played a significant role in those wins (especially against the Buccaneers) is Doubs.  After three weeks of play, Romeo Doubs’ ranking amongst all rookie WRs is mind blowing.  Especially given that he fell to the fourth round.

Romeo Doubs’ Ranking Amongst Rookie WRs

After three weeks, Packers WR Romeo Doubs ranks among rookie WRs:

    – 1st in catch%: 87.5
    – 1st in passer rating when targeted: 123.2
    – 1st in Yards After Catch: 87
    – 4th in catches: (14)*
    – 4th in receiving yards: (137)*
    – 6th in Yards Per Route Run: (1.9)

    *3 ahead are first-rounders

Averaging all 6 of those categories, Romeo Doubs is effectively ranked the 3rd best (2.8 Avg) rookie wide receiver through the first three weeks of the season.  The exact type of production Green Bay needed out of these rookies.  The craziest part?  So far this season Romeo Doubs is outperforming Davante Adams.  Doubs hauled in ALL EIGHT of the passes thrown his way for 73 yards and a touchdown. Since Week One, he has 10 receptions for 100 yards and a touchdown.

Davante Adams has not had nearly as much success. The two-time All-Pro has seven receptions for 48 yards and two touchdowns. While he may have one more touchdown, he also has six more targets than Doubs. In fact, Doubs has caught 10 of the 11 passes thrown his way in the past two weeks. In fact, including Week One, Doubs has caught 14 of the 16 passes thrown his way.  In other words, Davante Adams has a catch percentage of 50% (17 receptions on 34 targets) this season. Romeo Doubs has an 87.5% catch rate.  This type of production can be huge for Green Bay’s ability to remain an explosive offense.  Romeo Doubs has found a home in Green Bay, and we are loving it.
