Packers predicted to lose WR Romeo Doubs to bitter NFC rival

The Green Bay Packers and general manager Brian Gutekunst may be forced to allow some top talent to walk out the door this offseason.

Ahead of free agency beginning in earnest, Green Bay is currently upwards of $1.5 million over the salary cap, which is going to force some difficult decisions for Gutekunst, head coach Matt LaFleur, and the Packers’ coaching staff.

Could Packers lose WR Romeo Doubs to the Philadelphia Eagles?

Green Bay Packers wide receiver Romeo Doubs (87) fields a punt during the second quarter of their game against the Philadelphia Eagles Monday, November 10, 2025 at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

Green Bay’s crowded receiver room could be an area where the Packers see some turnover.

With former first-round pick Matthew Golden emerging, Christian Watson signed to a long-term contract extension, and Jayden Reed and Dontayvion Wicks carving out niches in quarterback Jodan Love’s target hierarchy, veteran Romeo Doubs could be the odd-man out.

According to veteran NFL reporter Greg Auman, the Philadelphia Eagles could be an ideal destination for Doubs once free agency gets underway.

Doubs, 25, caught 55 passes this past season for a career-high 724 yards and six touchdowns as one of Love’s most reliable and consistent targets. If the Packers are unable to bring Doubs back to Green Bay, the veteran receiver could be an ideal replacement for A.J. Brown in the Eagles’ offense if Philadelphia trades their star receiver in the weeks ahead.
