NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell visited Green Bay to meet with potential sponsors for the 2025 NFL Draft, which the city was selected to host in May. Fans came to the Johnsonville Tailgate Village to hear the commissioner talk about the great benefits of hosting the draft.
Roger Goodell speaks about the benefits of hosting the NFL Draft in Green Bay
The draft is expected to attract 250,000 attendees during its three-day run. In addition, it has the potential to generate $90 million in economic benefits for Wisconsin, with $20 million staying local.
“[The NFL Draft is] going to be a two-year-long commercial about the benefits of Green Bay and Wisconsin,” said Packers President and CEO Mark Murphy.
Green Bay will be the 14th city to host the draft and the second time in Wisconsin, where Milwaukee hosted in 1940.
The unpredictable weather was a concern for Goodell but didn’t hate the idea of snow during the draft.
“The real beauty of it, it’s a chance for you to put your community on the biggest stage. We think that’s the real opportunity here for you all,” he said. “Everyone is going to see Green Bay. They may see it with some snow, maybe not some snow. I don’t know. We’d be happy to see a little snow, personally.”
