Robert Salaeh is waiting for Aaron Rodgers to be traded
Head coach Robert Saleh has been vocal recently as the New York Jets are waiting for Aaron Rodgers to be officially traded. Wide receiver Allen Lazard recently said he’s not worried about Rodgers’ status with the Jets for 2023. Saleh spoke to reporters over the weekend, telling them the Jets’ progress in recent years has put them in a position to land Rodgers. But Rodgers hasn’t yet arrived.
According to Mike Garafolo with the NFL Network, Saleh was at the AFC coaches’ breakfast Monday morning. He said there isn’t an urgency to finalize the trade. Saleh said, “it takes two to tango” and that he would “respect the process.” Saleh added that the Packers and Jets were not close in trade talks yet, but deferred further comment to general manager Joe Douglas.

Saleh is speaking here at the AFC coaches breakfast at the NFL meeting. #Jets GM Joe Douglas will speak to the media at some point as well. Saleh was just asked about the status of talks. Said that’s a “Joe D question.” My understanding is the sides are not close as of now.

The Packers have no incentive to rush a Rodgers trade. They stand to create $15.8 million in cap space by waiting until June to do so. The Jets have to be a little frustrated by the process. But they should feel better knowing the Packers have no other realistic option but to trade Rodgers this offseason.
