The Packers’ 2023 offseason figures to be yet another suspenseful one. Last offseason we saw Aaron Rodgers sign his massive three-year extension, Davante Adams traded away to Las Vegas, and Marquez Valdes-Scantling chose to sign with the Chiefs instead of the Packers. This time around, we await the decision of Aaron Rodgers as well as possible trades/signings to bolster their roster for another playoff run in 2023. The Packers have reportedly inquired about trading for a receiver, Corey Davis, who once again seems to be on the trading block.
The Green Bay Packers Inquired About Trading For Jets’ WR Corey Davis
As Jason Hirschhorn reported last year, the Packers tried to trade for Corey Davis around the draft last spring. If the Jets are already going to move on, sending him to GB in a Rodgers trade makes perfect sense,” Peter Bukowski reported. According to Paul Esden Jr:
People in and around the Jets are operating under the assumption that Corey Davis will be a cap casualty’ this offseason (2023), per Zack Blatt NYJ would save $10.5 million w/ $666,667 in dead cap.
Corey Davis has spent six seasons in the NFL. The first four were with the Tennessee Titans, and the last two were with the New York Jets. In his six seasons, he has accumulated 273 receptions, 3,879 receiving yards, and 17 touchdowns. The averages out to just over 45 receptions, 647 receiving yards, and nearly three touchdowns per season. That type of production is certainly something the Packers could utilize. With Allen Lazard’s seemingly imminent departure, bringing in a veteran like Corey Davis would go a long way for the receiving corps. Clearly, Christian Watson and Romeo Doubs are the future of the position. However, a veteran presence like Corey Davis would provide a mentor for the two young stars.
