The battle for the third string running back was real during the preseason. Second year player Patrick Taylor has been another great player for the Packers throughout pre-season. All season Tyler Goodson and Patrick Taylor have been vying for playing time. Goodson got the call today. As the coaching staff has hinted at, it is the all around football player they are looking for at each position. The coaching staff wants versatile, dynamic players and Goodson has proved to be just that. He had quite the pre-season cutting past defenders and also catching a few passes. Against the Chefs in the preseason Goodson had 29 carries, 107 yards, and one touchdown.
Tyler Goodson is an undrafted rookie from Iowa. Goodson rushed for 2551 career yards and 18 touchdowns but struggled to stay consistent and left college as a junior. During the draft, many analysts pointed to Goodson as a raw prospect and he has shown flashes in camp. It will be interesting to see if Goodson gets a few opportunities in third down or passing situations against the Vikings.
