The Green Bay Packers are preparing to face the Minnesota Vikings at Lambeau Field on Sunday. This game will be the next step in the Packers’ improbable playoff push. The Packers (7-8) must win their final two games to have a shot at the playoffs. The Vikings (12-3) are looking to play spoiler as they continue to pursue the number one seed in the NFC. Prior to Week 17, a Packers safety was signed by the Atlanta Falcons. Micah Abernathy will be a member of the Atlanta Falcons for the final two weeks of the 2022 season.
Safety Micah Abernathy Signed By The Atlanta Falcons
Micah Abernathy went undrafted in the 2019 NFL Draft. He was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Minnesota Vikings, but was cut before training camp even began. He then received opportunities with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Indianapolis Colts, but was unable to crack their rosters. Now he will get a chance with the Falcons. Atlanta will play the Arizona Cardinals and Tampa Bay Buccaneers at home to end the regular season.
The Packers elevated Abernathy from the practice squad to the game-day roster in Week 1 and Week 13. He played six snaps on special teams against the Minnesota Vikings in the season opener and one snap on defense and seven snaps on special teams against the Bears in Chicago earlier this month. This move will allow the Packers to sign one more player to their practice squad for the remainder of the 2022 season.
