The Milwaukee Bucks could be making some trades before the 2025 NBA Trade Deadline. There is a chance that the Bucks may not make any trades before then. A lot of Bucks fans will want general manager Jon Horst to make a trade before then because the team could be better.
One name that is potentially on the trade block this year is Memphis Grizzlies guard Marcus Smart. Smart was traded from the Boston Celtics to Memphis during the 2023 offseason.
Milwaukee Bucks Could Potentially Trade For Memphis Grizzlies Guard Marcus Smart At the NBA Trade Deadline
Greg Swartz of Bleacherreport.com wrote about potential trade targets for the Bucks before the 2025 NBA trade deadline. Marcus Smart was one of the names to watch. Memphis is 18-9 this season in the NBA and they would be interested in moving off of him anyway.
Swartz said about the Bucks possibly making a trade for the Grizzlies guard:
”
An 8-2 record over their last 10 games has erased any thoughts of the Milwaukee Bucks being sellers at the deadline. The focus should be on flipping a struggling Khris Middleton along with some sweeteners to improve this roster around Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard.
Smart is still a high-level defender who would help a Bucks team that only ranks 14th overall this season. Few players could provide more intel on the Boston Celtics in a potential playoff series as well.”
This season with Memphis, he is averaging 9.2 PPG, 2.5 RPG, 3.9 APG, and shooting 36.5% from the field. Smart has also 0.4 BPG and 1.3 SPG in 17 games played this season. He also has a 32.5% three-point percentage and also an 82.9% free throw percentage.
Might Stand Pat
There is a chance that the Milwaukee Bucks could stand pat at the trade deadline and not make any moves at all. Milwaukee could very well be interested in trading for Marcus Smart on the Memphis Grizzlies. Some other names to watch for at the NBA Trade Deadline this season are Jerami Grant from the Portland Trail Blazers, C.J. McCollum of the New Orleans Pelicans, and Brandon Ingram of the New Orleans Pelicans.
With the Bucks playing well right now, they may not want to ruin the chemistry. However, if Milwaukee feels like they need to make an additional move to compete with the Cleveland Cavaliers, the New York Knicks, and the Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference, then they have to make a move also.
