The Marquette Golden Eagles are looking forward to a different 2024-2025 season. They are going to be one of the contenders once again in the BIG East Conference along with the UCONN Huskies. Marquette this offseason lost Tyler Kolek and Oso Ighodaro to the NBA, but they have a lot of optimism about the program led by head coach Shaka Smart.
The Marquette Golden Eagles the last two seasons were the second seed in the NCAA Tournament. None of those seasons resulted in the team going to the Final Four, however.
The Marquette Golden Eagles Will Open Big East Play On December 18 Against the Butler Bulldogs At Home
Marquette’s non-conference schedule for the 2024-2025 college basketball season was already announced earlier this offseason. According to Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports, the Marquette Golden Eagles will open up BIG East Conference play against the Butler Bulldogs on December 18th in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
The rest of the BIG East Schedule has yet to be announced and it will be interesting to see what the rest of the conference schedule is going to look like. Marquette will be one of the favorites to win the conference this season. Butler did not make the NCAA Tournament last season as only three teams from the BIG East Conference made it.
Other Conference Games To Potentially Watch For
Outside of the UCONN Huskies and the home opener against the Butler Bulldogs, there will be some other interesting games to watch for on the Marquette Golden Eagles schedule this college basketball season. The Creighton Blue Jays, the Providence Friars, the St. John’s Red Storm, and the Seton Hall Pirates will be some other teams to watch for.
Some could argue that St. John’s and Seton Hall deserved to be in the NCAA Tournament a season ago. The Marquette Golden Eagles still have a lot of talent on the 2024-2025 team and will have high expectations also.
