Report: Green Bay Packers Were In Trade Talks With Jaguars For A Wide Receiver

The Green Bay Packers are considering options at wide receiver

According to a recent report, the Green Bay Packers appear not to be completely satisfied with where they are at with their wide receivers. The Packers traded away their start receiver Davante Adams this offseason. The Packers took three wide receivers in this year’s draft.

Christan Watson is currently injured. Romeo Doubs has looked excellent in the preseason. Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers was frustrated with some of his receivers during training camp. Rodgers hinted the teams running backs would get more touches in the passing game.

A new report from ESPN’s Dan Graziano shows the Packers are still looking to improve their wide receivers corps. Graziano included the Packers on a list of teams talking to the Jacksonville Jaguars about a possible trade for wide receiver Laviska Shenault.

Note I found interesting last night: Carolina had some competition for Laviska Shenault. Packers, Falcons were among the other teams that were talking to the Jaguars about trading for Shenault before they reached a deal with the Panthers, per sources.

The Packers might need a little more help this season on offense

Shenault would have been a great haul for the Green Bay Packers. The former second-round draft pick has put up decent numbers for the Jaguars. It’ll be interesting to see what receivers the Packers might go after next.

The Packers currently have seven wide receivers on their roster.

    The Packers' first 53:

    OFFENSE
    QB: Rodgers, Love
    RB: Jones, Dillon
    TE: Tonyan, Lewis, Deguara, Davis
WR: Lazard, Cobb, Watkins, Rodgers, Watson, Doubs, Toure
OL: Bakhtiari, Jenkins, Runyan, Myers, Newman, Hanson, Nijman, Tom, Rhyan, Walker

Those names were not enough to impress Pro Football Focus this offseason. PFF ranked the Packers wide receiver unit 31st heading into the regular season. The Packers should be assertive and do what they can to better that unit.

Rodgers should be set up with as much help as he can to lead the team this season. It’s one of the Packers’ best chances to make the Super Bowl while Rodgers is still playing at an MVP level. The Packers have let much of Rodgers’ career go to waste. They should make sure that doesn’t happen with this special 2022 team.
