The Green Bay Packers for the longest time have been about scouting players, drafting, and developing them. The Packers are one of the best in the business in doing that. It is one of the reasons why the Packers are one of the best organizations in the NFL.
They are 8-3 this season and are on their way back potentially to the playoffs once again. One person who has worked general manager Brian Gutekunst for a long time is Packers vice president of player personnel Jon-Eric Sullivan. It is going to be interesting to see if Sullivan will get some interviews for potential general manager openings this offseason.
Green Bay Packers’ Jon-Eric Sullivan Is Reported To Potentially Be a General Manager As Early As 2025
Wendell Ferreira of atozsports.com came out with a list of 20 candidates who could potentially be a general manager this upcoming NFL offseason. According to him, he thinks that Green Bay Packers Jon-Eric Sullivan could be a name to watch for this offseason to become a general manager. Ferreira said:
“Sullivan has been with the Packers since 2004, starting as a scout. He was promoted to director of college scouting in 2016 and to co-director of player personnel in 2018, when Brian Gutekunst took over as the Packers GM. He’s been one of the top voices in Green Bay. He’s been in his current role since 2022.”
This would be a huge loss for the Green Bay Packers front office if Sullivan got another job elsewhere in 2025 and beyond. There are NFL teams who are looking for fresh voices and fresh ideas. Jon-Eric Sullivan has provided offensive talent for this franchise. Some of the names include Christian Watson, Jayden Reed, Dontayvion Wicks, Romeo Doubs, Jordan Love, Luke Musgrave, Tucker Kraft, and many more.
New York Jets Will Need a New General Manager in 2025
One team that will need a new general manager next season is the New York Jets. Joe Douglas was fired during the season. A lot of the blame goes around former Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Wouldn’t be something if the Jets hired Jon-Eric Sullivan as general manager and showed Aaron Rodgers the door? As they say, what goes around comes around.
The New York Jets will not be the only team who will need a new general manager. The New York Giants may also fire Joe Schoen as general manager after this season. The Giants let go of Xavier McKinney and Saquon Barkley this offseason and have no doubt regretted it. Both franchises will need to start over and why not hire a guy who has overseen offensive talent like Jon-Eric Sullivan? It would be a big loss for the Green Bay Packers if they lost him to another team.
